Editing FMEAs
If you are a member either of the "fmea-editor" group or the "fmea-admin" group, then there are several activities you can perform on an FMEA while it is open. If you are a member of the "fmea-viewer" group then you can only view the records and you cannot make any changes.
Edit the FMEA title
To modify the title of an FMEA, click the Edit icon in the title bar.
Update the inputs as needed and then click Save.
The FMEA type displays to the left of the FMEA name and cannot be changed.
Context menus
For an existing record, you can right-click a worksheet cell or tree row to show the relevant context menu (Add, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Move).
Add a record
To add a new record, right-click either a record of the same type, its parent record or a sibling record and choose Add [record]. Then enter the record properties and click Save to create the record. Note that in the worksheet view, you can also click in an empty cell to add a new record.
You can also use AI assistance to add and edit records.
Edit a record
To edit a record, click the record to open the record properties. Change the properties as needed and then either click Save to update the record or Discard to leave the record as it was originally defined.
Duplicate a record
To copy a record (and any dependents) in order to paste duplicate(s) elsewhere in the FMEA, right-click the record and click Copy. Then select an eligible parent or sibling and click Paste. If you select a parent record, the record is pasted at the bottom of the sibling list while if you select a sibling it is pasted above that record.
Reassign a record
To move a record (and any dependents) to another location in the FMEA, right-click the record and click Cut. Then select an eligible parent or sibling and click Paste. If you select a parent record, the record is moved to the bottom of the sibling list while if you select a sibling it is pasted above that record.
Move a record up or down
To move a record within its branch, right-click the record and either click Move up or Move down.
Delete a record
To delete a record or branch from the FMEA, right-click the record and choose Delete. This deletes the selected record and any dependents. It cannot be undone.
Delete this text and replace it with your own content.
Use the same action in multiple locations
You can use the same action in multiple places in an FMEA. When doing so, changes made in one location display everywhere the action is used. To use the same action in another location, right-click the action record and click Copy. Then select an eligible cause or sibling action and click Paste link.
If you copied a parent record that has child action(s), click Paste with linked children.
Assign responsibility for an action
There are two things that you can do to assign the person responsible for completing an action. In the Responsibility area you can:
- Use the drop-down list to select a single site user who will be considered as the person with primary responsibility for the action. The action will display for the user in the "My open actions" tile on the home dashboard.
- Enter any other relevant text (e.g., names, job titles, etc.) in the following field.
You can use both options if you need to (i.e., select the site user who has primary responsibility for the action and also list any additional team members who contribute to the action).
